The Crafts & Culture Challenge (C&C) is a cultural heritage, tourism, innovation, and workforce development platform — using challenge-based learning as the mechanism to preserve, celebrate, and reimagine living culture.

As a sister initiative to the Future Leaders Challenge and Future Founders Forum, C&C unites governments, educational institutions, tourism bodies, industry partners, and the next generation of chefs, guides, storytellers, artisans, performers, and heritage professionals around a shared cultural agenda.
Student teams will explore the depth of f.e. a cuisine, from traditional ingredients and regional influences to modern interpretations. All concepts and dishes will be evaluated by a panel of leading industry experts, who will assess creativity, authenticity, execution, and the ability to express a clear cultural narrative.

C&C believes culture survives when it evolves. Participants are encouraged not only to preserve traditions, but to reinterpret, modernise, and reimagine them for a new generation. Through gastronomy, storytelling, tourism experiences, craftsmanship, design, media, and cultural entrepreneurship, young people are challenged to bring heritage to life while respecting its origins and significance.

School Application
Schools register their interest through the application form. Each submission is reviewed to confirm alignment with the challenge and the wider Future Leaders Platform.

Approval & Team Selection
Approved schools nominate two students and a guiding lecturer (an expert practicing in the discipline the students will present).

Build & Collaborate
Student teams refine their concept alongside their guiding lecturer, developing the craft, story, and presentation they'll bring to the live challenge.

Global Stage
An international cultural showcase hosted alongside Marrakech Design Week, followed by the finals and a program that sustains the network long after.
